Story

Thinking about world leadership, particularly in my U.S. Homeland, makes me melancholic and pensive, but not altogether hopeless. With the presidential elections coming into full swing again, and after watching news and social media, this song was inevitable.

Lyrics

I wake up every day

Close my eyes and pray

For someone who can make us stop and think

About where we’ve been

And where we’re goin’

And how to free us from these stubborn sins

(Chorus)

But it ain’t me

It ain’t me

I’m just the breeze

Blowing through your hair

I don’t care if it’s a he

Don’t care if it’s a she

Any color just one who feels the beat

Of what we’re going through

Mother Nature, too

Can’t stand another king, pawn, or stooge

(Chorus)

But it ain’t me

It ain’t me

I’m just the wind

Flying through your cape

We’re throwing you a rope

A frayed line of hope

Can’t you see our time is running out?

We need some new ideas

From a heart that really cares

And a soul that can smile away our fears

(Chorus)

But it ain’t me

It ain’t me

I’m just the bird

Singing in the tree

It ain’t me

It ain’t me

I’m just the breeze
